Organic Freeform Ruby Red Vase
« on: November 29, 2012, 11:06:48 AM »
Hi all, just going to post a few I'm stuck on, cheers :-)

Organic Freeform Ruby Red Vase

Measures 11" tall, ruby red glass cased in clear, polished pontil, fire polished rim, very heavy, superb quality.

This to me has all the hallmarks of Whitefriars but I cannot find it catalogued. Could it be a 'frigger'?

Absolutely not wfs! Very possibly modern/contemporary Polish or Chinese. Is the base rough around the pontil mark?

Successful ID - I've found a similar one still with it's M&S label for £28 on!

That's only the retailer. Producer could be anywhere. It's a start though

Hi,

Now that I know it was commissioned by M&S I don't think there's much more to say about it, I've found what I needed to know  :)

It is a very popular shape and has been around since the nineties. Largest retailer is undoubtedly Ikea. I believe these have been made in Poland, China and India alike.
