Hi Kieth if the vase is signed (VASART ) on the base, it was made between 1946 and 1956 and if it is not signed it was made between 1956 and 1964.

Did any of the pre-56 Vasart (i.e. Ysart Brothers) items just have the round "Vasart" label without the acid signature?

Don't forget M&S, John Lewis, Liberty, Elwell, and others, probably including most factors.

The answer is I don't know Kevin, I have 3 pieces of Vasart with the round label and all are signed Vasart.

According to Cathy, no. But we all know how reliable first hand sources are. So it is possible but unless the piece has dated provenance no way of knowing as the same colours designs and methods are common to both periods.

The answer is yes, whilst looking through my Vasart pieces which have been boxed and stored, I came across this piece which has the round label and not signed.

Well found Gary. Without the label, purely visual assessment of which "Vasart" period becomes more difficult.

Now I am happier in one sense because it becomes just as hard to be sure of Ysart Brothers (Vasart) / Vasart Ltd general art glass as it is for paperweights (few of which, from the Ysart Brothers period, are acid signed and even fewer have the round label). ;D
