With a start price of £150, it is unlikely anyone will bid on this, but I'd like to know the maker so I can inform the seller.  I am sure  :-\ seller just doesn't know any better, and it is not a deliberate piece of trickery........

Uneven fire polished rim reminds me of some Japanese bark vases [Link], but that's just a guess.

This one (amber is not the only colour they come in) reminds me of the BHF vases, at least the texture does, no idea if there is a connection there or not.

Most likely Japanese. Cant add any more. These bark effect pieces mostly come with generic labels that I cannot pinpoint at this stage :(

Thanks guys for the input.   Frustrating isn't it when you go round and rounds in circles with this type of item? :-\

BHF things are much thinner glass - this does have a deep texture - is Ingridglas a possibility?
(I'm unable to comment on Japanese or other far eastern owing to severe lack of knowledge.)

This is Wayne's page on Ingrid Glass - do you think the texture pattern matches anything there?

All the Ingrid bark vases I've seen have had flat ground rims, although they have made other stuff with fire polished rims...
