Panda Paperweight. Not Mats but who ?
« on: January 25, 2013, 05:25:59 PM »
This is 14cm x 13cm. I think it could be Scandinavian but dont know who. There are no marks on it and its not the same quality as the MJ pieces. It does have the 'ice' finish and the smooth feel to the front and base. Krona ? Viking? I cant find similar.

I have a similar polar bear, i.e. same sort of "rim finish" - labelled Nybrö.

Nybro was another option. I was a little disappointed when I got it in the light. I will get new glasses soon. The quality is not there. The finish on the sides and front is good but the actual panda let's it down. I know why I like MJ's pieces so much. Plenty try but just don't match up. He worked for krona at one time (my memory says) The heron piece is great, not seen it before.  Thanks for the help so far.

I know what you mean about comparing quality Petet63.... the only other ones I have seen that match MJ is Capredoni... beautifully made and finished,  but so often not recognised.  They are often mistaken for MJ,  which I suppose is a compliment in many ways,
I will see if I can find out more about Nybro....laters!
