An Unusual Honeycomb Piece - ID Suggestions Welcome
« on: February 03, 2013, 07:26:39 PM »
I bought this piece a few weeks back on ebay. It is only the 3rd piece of this type I have encountered. The other two were in the same colors and also the same size and shape. The Trefoil mouth reminds me of Rindskopf production as does the Honeycomb, although it appears to be a variant of what they have done that I am familiar with.

The shape of the foot on this piece does not strike me as a Rindskopf example, as I have no recollection of having seen this foot on any piece of their glass.... so it is kind of an odd one for me. It was suggested to me that it could be English, but I do not know...

The piece stands at a large 11 inches, measuring approx 5 inches in diameter at the widest portion of the folded rim, 4 inches in diameter at the shoulder, and 3.75 inches in diameter at the base.

Well done and quite interesting, I am open to any suggestions as to the maker of the piece....

TIA
Craig

I can't think it is Stevens and Williams, but the wispy transparent green and the trailing kind of reminded me of their range called Fibrilose apparently c.1901/1902
There is a ref for this on page 24 Hajdamach 20th Century British Glass.
Perhaps that was the 'thing' at that time.
Do you have it currently under Rindskopf honeycomb on the site , it came up on search that  there is another one on there that's the same decor or similar but different shape - are they both in question?

I'll have a search.

Thanks M,

I just pulled both of them from the site.... I had forgotten about that other shape.... and forgot they were on there....

So I have actually seen 2 shapes....  and the decor is in question at this point. I would not classify it, after handling the one I bought, as being Rindskopf...  I would need more supporting information. The group, having seen it quite some time ago felt it to be Rindskopf..... Strongly spearheaded by one individual, who's opinion I no longer trust in many cases.....

I am posting the other shape and details here for reference.....

thanks for the extra pics, I'm immediately curious as to how they did the green around the honeycomb pattern  ;D
I prefer the shape of yours -  I like the foot, it looks like a dress rather than a vase, very pretty.

The technique to achieve that decor has got to be quite an interesting one....  I am curious as to the same thing, and have really tried to think of how you would do it....  I have come up blank on that one....

I agree, my shape is more interesting and a little more elegant....

Yeah.... He swore it is Rinkdskopf.....  I disagree.... obviously...   :)

I have never seen this foot on a single example of Rindskopf production in a decor I recognize.....  If I did, I might change my mind.  I also have not seen the other shape in a Rindskopf decor either....

mmm, so is the one I linked to definitely attributed to Kralik then?

I wonder if Harrach might have had a go at this kind of thing - just wondering?
