17C_pioneer:
The Association for the History of Glass are holding a 17th C glass study day at the workshop of Georgian Glassmakers in Quarley, Hampshire, on Saturday 16th March.
Please see: http://www.historyofglass.org.uk/ for program and more details.
The second half of the 17th century saw the foundation of a distinct English and Irish glass industry which not only initiated the “golden age” of British table glass, but provided the foundations for the scientific and industrial revolutions. Yet it is the period that has received scant attention from glass scholars over the years.
At the time of posting there are still some places left for this unique event that aims to bring together different strands of historical evidence around demonstrations of typical period glass-making techniques.
