Looks so very Riihimäen / Aladin, but can´t find it...
« on: March 02, 2013, 03:38:09 PM »
Hi,

colour, shape and base say Riihimäen to me, but I can´t find this vase. Is it?

TIA
Dirk

Looks like a variation of the two vases in the centre of the middle row in >> this pic on precisensan.com, so should be Riihimäen by either Aladin or Helena Tynell...

edit to add: those concetric rings at the base seem to be quite typical for Riihimäen vases from that period (at least I have them on several of mine)

Thanks, Michael - exactly my thoughts concerning the base; knew it from Ruusu and
Reimari.  ;D
It´s close to 1472, but since the base area is different it must be another pattern...
Tried Laatutavara and designlasi - to  no avail.  ???

Seems to be a rather scarce Aladin piece, then :D

Just some more observations: here is a pic of a vanished ebay auction showing the same vase (if it isn't the one you bought, there has to be at least one more around)
And I have noticed that in many of Aladin's designs the distinguishing feature can be found in different vertical positions (like the Tulppaani vases here); and the author there claims that the green vase at the right should exist in a rare version with all the rings at the top, too.

Research is (at least) 50% of the fun! ;)

Unfortunately nothing definite came up in this case...

Little doubt for me that this one is Riihimaen Lasi, I have seen a few before. I would leave my options open for designer though.

Thank you, John. Did you see them in other colours, too?
