I have a set of 5 fruit bowls with a larger bowl, all in jade glass with a white foot.  The jade glass glows strongly bright green under UV light.

The nearest I have seen are some Stevens and Williams bowls, but I haven't seen anything in this shape.  Is anyone able to id this for me please?

No ID I'm afraid - but aren't they beautiful!

I suspect not because I don't think S&W green alabaster is uranium (John tested a known shape for me) and that white looks too opaque. St Louis perhaps?

I was basing my initial id on the very similar tumbler on the 20th Century glass encylopedia (is it ok to link to that here?)
The glass also reminds me a lot of the swans I put on recently which were thought might be Stevens and Williams, although I haven't had them side by side to look at closely yet.

Your photos enlarge and then look very blurred to me so it's difficult to tell, but on the basis of your photos I would say that looks nothing like the S&W Alabaster I've had.  My greens were not uranium.  I don't know if none of their Alabaster range was though.  I'll try and find some pics on my file to compare - found a salt so you can see the green and the other is the stem of a pink Alabaster glass from S&W.

Thanks for the pictures.

You are right the green is different.  Mine is brighter than your salt.  There are lots of tiny bubbles in the green glass if that helps identification at all.

I haven't really come across St Louis glass at all, is there somewhere I can research it online, or do I need to buy yet more books?  What sort of age would these bowls be if we assume St Louis?

I must work on my photography skills, I do try really hard to get it in focus, but it just won't!

I'm sure the fact that it's full of tiny bubbles will help with the id.
(Great sympathies with trying to cope with cameras you can't get to focus. I'm thankfully sorted with a lovely, well-behaved  camera now.)

Not really it's bit of a feature of jade glass

I've been waiting and waiting for you to comment here Christine - desperate for your opinion!

Surely the pulegoso effect might help at least eliminate some makers... narrow the search field a little?  :)

Interestingly I went over to my unit at Elsecar today, so I was able to take the opportunity to try the dishes side by side with the uranium glass swans ( see http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,50852.msg288123.html#msg288123 ) and the glass appears identical in shade when they are put close together.  The swans don't have any bubbles though.
