Hi 
Is this for salt or sugar ? . It stand`s 10cm and is uranium deep cut glass. The top is silver hall mark Birmingham 1874  . Thank you

Salt or pepper, as differentiating between the holes is relatively modern. Sugar castors are usually larger.

It's attractive - I like it.........appreciate it's green, but does it actually glow  -  could be wrong, but it looks a rather blueish green for uranium :)

A pounce pot had fine powder inside to sprinkle over wet ink to make the ink dry quicker.

Hmm, I think I might retract my "It will glow" statement, as I'm not sure that's a uranium glow, more a lot of manganese glow. It's too fuzzy and not bright enough. I'd need to see it in person to be sure

doesn't look like a urnaium glow to me  -  much more like manganese.          'Pounce' seems to have been the name given to the these powders - used prior to the creation of blotting paper - which were made from pumice, talc, and cuttle fish bone.       Apparently, the metal tops of pounce pots were often concave in shape, which made it easier to replace surplus powder after you had 'blotted'  :)
I think it's a good find.
