Cenedese Aquarium block?
« on: April 25, 2006, 02:46:24 AM »
Hi Folks,

I'm not really an expert in this area of glass and would appreciate some input. It's 9 inches wide by 5 inches. I also have the original wooden light base...

any comments would be appreciated  :D

thx!

From what I understand, these blocks were designed by Alfredo Barbini while at Cenedese.  But as nothing in Murano is that clear-cut, I've seen very similar blocks with salviati labels. Fratelli Toso also did fishy things, but the fish lack the detail that you see in this block.

I think Cenedese is a very fair attribution. The piece is definitely mid-20th Century, as the quality is very high.

Nice piece!

I want it!!!  :)
Great piece! .... I do agree with Laura.... I think this is a Barbini designed piece because of the weird looking shapes of the fish. I have a few Toso pieces too, and they are not as wymsical.
