Is It ?
« on: April 23, 2006, 11:14:53 AM »
Hi folks, just wanted your opinion on this bird, do you think it is Murano ? It is unsigned but has golden 'sprinkles' in the tail. It's about 5&1/2 inches long and a little under 4 inches tall.

Also, the beak doesn't come to a point, but is perfectly smooth, is this normal ?

Thanks

Paul

Almost certainly.  I don't think the Chinese have reached that level of skill (or have they?).  Not that they couldn't, but their business model is predicated on volume, not artistry.

Identification of a piece as "Murano" only gets you so far.  (See my previous post, "Dino Martens Bird?"   ).  I'll leave the attribution to producer to the experts.  I'm still learning.  Good luck!
Charles.

Its so hard to know about whats being made new these days, and by whom, unless you are in a prevalent place where items like these get sold often... I've no guess as of right now. The color combination is a bit unusual for what i've seen. At least I dont think its a vintage piece.
