I've come to the conclusion that I  think the piece I'm trying to research is not German.

It hasn't arrived yet Peter...I'm fingers crossed it does arrive to be honest as I'm probably tempting fate talking about it at all.
I bought it thinking it was an Art Nouveau piece of glass as I'd seen something a similar shape (although it was advertised as something different entirely), then accidentally discovered it may not be - I wont really know until it turns up.  When (if) it arrives I'll post some pictures.

Hi ,
         I thought some might like to see a recent arrival , this one is a little larger though at 14 inches  and much easier to attribute both in date and to country which is c 1740 and Bohemia ,it has a lovely Zwishengold medalion on one end showing Bacchus

A tin-glazed and lustred earthenware barrel referred to as a 'refredador'
11 1/2" high and 8 3/4" wide
Valencia (Manises) Spain 16th century
Has spout in the middle and two little handles either side of the spout

I don't think I've found a reference to earthenware barrels from Spain before - I'd been searching France and found one or two from there but nothing from Spain.
