Topic: Jobling 2594 Flat Leaf Pattern Candlesticks

I've had these a while but have only just got around to photographing them. It seems this pattern is very scarce: I've seen only one other pair and a two other single examples during the years I've been collecting.

The design is shown in the 1935 Catalogue Supplementary List (reproduced on p. 45 of Baker & Crowe) and was only listed as being available in opalique with a satin finish. There seens to have been at least two different baseplates used in the mould: my examples have a slightly concave base moulded with a similar radiating leaf/ petal design as on the top of the foot, while another example shown on Worthpoint has a completely flat foot with no moulded pattern (see here: http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/jobling-opalique-glass-leaf-pattern-271585699).

Interestingly, despite having enraved "Regn Appld For" marks, both candlesticks do have faint moulded registration numbers to the edge of the foot, though these are not well defined and can't easily be read.

Steven, I'm a little intrigued by your comment of "photographing/cataloguing" as it is something that I really must do for my collectibles, etc at some point. What information do you keep about each piece (assuming you have it) and what form do you keep it in?

Hi Carolyn,

I used to keep a notebook with a description, catalogue number, reg. no., etc. but now I want to move to keeping thins in an electronic form (that way I can include photos easily). At the moment I don't really have a system, just a bunch of folders with several views plus a short text file with the relevant info.

I also try to share this information where possible and keep a record of pieces I own/ have owned on both the Glass Gallery and Flickr. This way it can form a useful resource for other collectors:
