Mark Fowler "BEAUTIFUL glass SCULPTURE"
« on: April 24, 2013, 01:09:36 PM »
Any information on this artist and or his works would be greatly appreciated.
Have searched the web and can only find very minimal information.
I recently bought this piece at a consignment shop for a very low price, in my opinion.
Would really like to see more of his work.
Thanking you in advance,
Tony

Tony,

It's a very interesting piece. I can't recall seeing that honeycomb effect before, and it looks like it was ground and polished into shape.

I haven't heard of this artist before, but he is supposed to have a studio, Liquid Fire, 24th Avenue/The River, Rock Island, Ill. Alternatively, you could try contacting him through http://www.figgeartmuseum.org/About/Contact.aspx, as he organized an exhibition there once. I suspect like many other glass artists, the current economy has had a significant impact on his artistic production.

Thanks David, I had never heard of him until I saw this piece and was amazed. It is a very stunning piece, wish I could get better pictures of it, but had to take these in very little light as the piece picks up/reflects any and all light in the room.
Again thanks for your comments,
Tony

Can't help with more works, but it's quite a fascinating beast!

I would think the honeyccomb effect might be a slivery-slice of compacted canes?

Just received this email from Mark Fowler.

"Hi, You found him call me anytime. (phone number deleted), I'm traveling the next day or two so leave a message; if I don't pick up and I will get back to you, and thank you for your kind words about the work. Mark"

I did call and left a message asking for pictures of his works and or information on how to perhaps purchase more in the future.

If pictures are sent, I will post them, that is with his permission.

It's lovely when an artist gets back to you, isn't it?
Fingers crossed for some more eye candy and info! :)
