Monart surfaced decorated shape DB
« on: May 01, 2013, 05:46:12 PM »
This is my latest Monart purchase a surfaced decorated bowl (shape KB and size V11) with some iridescence's and a white inner. The colour scheme is one of the nicest I have seen for a good long time.

Rather jazzy! And quite an unusual piece too. Nice find.  :)
Is it really surface decorated? No clear casing?
Perhaps it's the pics, but it looks cased to me...
You have the advantage of having it in your jammy mitts!
Cheers, Sue (M)

I want to stick a plant pot in it. (sorry, sacrilege, I know.)

It is surfaced decorated Sue, though the images provided by vendor (permission given) do not show it to well.
I will take some macro images of bowl to show this with my own camera.

Now that I have the bowl and have taken some photos, trying to show the finish. The bowl  actually has a light green inner and clear glass (not a white inner vendors description). The colours appear to be floating above the green inner and cast a shadow on the green inner. I have captured on image 1 the shadow (letter S stands for shadow). Image 2 shows the tool marks when making the whorls in the glass, these marks can be felt with my finger as can most of the coloured whorls.

You take much better and far more sympathetic pictures than the seller did. It is absolutely stunning, Gary.
Well done. You must be chuffed to bits.  ;D

Thanks M and Sue for your positive comments, it is definitely in my own top ten Monart pieces.
I have just recently purchased my first DSLR camera, so still trying to get used to all the different controls.
