Thoughts please

Tall clear waisted glass vase with black and white vertical stripes. Ground concave pontil mark and fire polished rim.

Measures just under 31cm tall and weighs 494 grams.

Thought possibly Italian or Scandinavian, although no exact match to date.

Thanks in advance.
Greg

What about Mike Hunter, Twists Glass Studio?
I've found this link - it doesn't have your bit's shape illustrated though. You could always write to him to ask.  :)

Very TK Maxx

Lots of birds and animals around in the same style too.

Not in TKMaxx with proper round polished pontil marks, John.  :)
But you may well be right.  8)

Actually British Home Stores I had one with a label. I didn't see the label until I got home.

Ground not polished Sue (going by Greg's description). Some of the wares from the far east are now sporting polished pontil marks. There are no hard and fast rules....

Thanks all, BHS it is  :)

The pontil mark is very slightly translucent, whilst the rest of the base has been polished clear.

I presume the majority of BHS wares derive from either China or eastern Europe similar to TK Maxx...?

I know John,  :-* but the good polished pontil marks aren't on the birdie bits - they're on rather better quality made bits with eg. batutto or the bits that look like gulvases.
I thought the pic of the mark did make it look polished. ???

I was in TKMaxx last weeekend - there are some really amazing large picasso-like face sculptures for ~ £40.

At least you didn't buy it from BHS, Greg.
