Italian Figural Scottie Dog Bowl - Cenedese - Da Ros?
« on: May 04, 2013, 01:19:25 AM »
Received as a gift from a friend, really kind of as a joke, but when it arrived I was truly taken by it.  I had promised prior to actually seeing my gift, that I would display it, but I actually like  it....  very kitsch....  very different......  great colors.....  good size.......  and good age to it.

It measures 8 inches wide, 6 inches front to back, and 6 inches tall.  It weighs in at 5 lbs and had some water staining in it which cleaned up easily, so the condition is superb.

Looking for animal people to come along and tell me who did it. My suspicion is in the title, but who knows......

TIA, Craig

I was wondering if he belongs with your "dead pigeon", Christine.  :)

Poor pigeon :'(  - I like your pigeon and think he's every bit as classy as this pup.

The colours seem to really match the maker in your heading  ;D Looks a bit like a bulldog..

Somewhere packed away in one of the boxes of damaged, but too precious to throw away glass animals,  I have a Cenedese dog with this same face and colouring.
Recently,  I did see a pair of Cenedese bookends with this same dog as the model, (you may still be lucky enough to catch them on Google if you put in Cenedese dog bookends) so I am sure your vase is Cenedese.
They are not always signed, sadly.

I have requested permission to post the image here of the dog bookends. I will let you know. They are absolutely a match to the bowl......  Since they sold as dogs, as opposed to wingless bats, I suppose we can put the type of animal question to bed.      ;D ; :o  ::)

So it does appear that the bowl is Cenedese and likely by Da Ros.

What a great gift!!!
