Vasart Paperweight?
« on: May 08, 2013, 09:12:23 AM »
This paperweight is for sale locally. They have it labelled as Caithness, but I wondered if it might be Vasart as the label seems to end in "art"

I would be grateful if anyone can satisfy my curiosity, thanks :)

Correct - definitely not a Caithness weight, but Vasart - and (remnants) of a Vasart label:

Thanks Wuff.  I am quite happy about that, it is the first time I have spotted a piece of Vasart :)  I am thinking of bidding on it, could you give me a guide price on it at all?  I don't want to go higher than it is worth.  Thanks :)

Most people her are not happy to estimate values (me included) as they can vary a lot, depending on who is interested.
I recommend you search ebay "Vasart Paperweight" with "closed auctions" ... this will give some idea of spread - but keep in mind that not everything identified as Vasart on ebay actually is Vasart.
Good Luck !

And please be aware that eBay prices for standard Vasart weights (which were daily gift item production) have recently become very distorted. In some cases, collectors have been paying well over £100 pounds (even up to £200) for items that usually cost anything from £10 to £60!

Ok, thanks for the warnings  :o  I think I will leave a reasonable commission bid on it, and if I am meant to have it then I will get it.  If not, never mind :)
