some more details from the Archives for Fred's decanters as listed above, and missing from the Blue Book............getting a bit overloaded on this thread - perhaps not some many on one post in the future. :)

Registrations Nos. 740608 and 740609 both registered on 24th September 1928, to Joseph Clifton Cottle, under CLASS 4, which accounts for their absence from the Glass Association booklet.
Archive references are............for the Representations - BT 52/1341  -  and for the Register  BT 53/55.

That’s great, Paul – Thank you (as always).

JC Cottle was always a candidate for the registrant for RDs 740608 and 740609. (along with Jules Lang and Son), so it’s nice to have it confirmed, along with the registration dates.

The registers also fill in some more details about the mysterious JC Cottle that I wasn’t fully aware of:

Full name Joseph Clifton Cottle;
Address 90 Upper Richmond Road, East Sheen, London, S.W. 14
British subject.

Usefully, too, the design representations are photos showing the decanters with their stoppers, a topic of discussion already on GMB at
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,52779.msg299717.html#msg299717
and perhaps a definitive pointer to the appropriate stopper for a particular JC Cottle-registered decanter.

I also note that the stoppers shown in my photos of RDs 740608 and 740609 are not in accord with those in the design representations.
