Blue glass paperweight ID needed. ID = Michael J O'Keefe
« on: May 31, 2013, 03:22:37 PM »
In response to a previous thread, I have started a new topic for this blue glass paperweight, which I picked up in a charity shop about a month ago. It's signed and dated on the base; I can make out that the date; it appears to be 1984, but I can't read the signature. My questions are one, who made it, and secondly, what is the name of the model?

More likely,  this is by Michael J. O'Keefe.  Michael J. O'Keefe has a BFA from the Center of Creative Studies, Detroit, MI.  He has also studied at the Penland School of Craft, Penland, NC (with Paul Stankard) and at the Pratt Fine Arts Center, Seattle, WA (with Stephen Dale Edwards).  He has had his own studio Michael O'Keefe Glass since 1983.

Below is a signature from a weight that I sold.

That certainly looks like the signature on my paperweight. Thanks for the help. What would this paperweight be worth if I were to sell it?

Hi.

We do not offer views on value on this board. Some individual members might give you their idea of likely sale price if you approach them privately ( me included).  Ways to check include eBay (sold items) and L H Selman past auctions.

Hi Jl,  looks like you may well have an answer to the signature.  :)

We are trying to get everyone to add their pictures directly so that they are here for future reference to help others with their queries,  just as 'paperweights' picture has helped you this time.

Sadly, photobucket links disappear very quickly and render the thread useless for future reference.
Do you think you could add pictures of your weight and the signature here for us please?
Rosie.
