hi all, this is my first post and have found myself getting pulled in to looking at bits of glass recently, trying all the time to make some sort of sense of it,anyway i bought a very cheap night light type thing from a charity shop that is painted red with Italy and the letter R, in a three leaf clover stamped on the base, not the find of the century!but does anybody know the mark..

Hiya welcome to the board.
There is nothing anyone can say to your description except "photo please" - we really need to see it before we can make any comments.

umm,i don't think you need to see this one ivo,its a small piece of glass for a night light candle painted red with gold relief,i'm not sure i have the camera to show up the mark to be honest, there's an italy stamped on the side of the base and in the centre a three leaf clover with R in the centre,i think its a very modern item..

The mark is from a bottle plant called A.V.I.R. (or Aziende Vetrarie Italiane Ricciardi S.P.A. in full) and the decoration is amateur. Not saying it is badly done or anything - it is from a decoration kit with little tubes of gold and black and red which is sold in hobby shops to keep the kids happy during rainy days.

Thank you for taking the trouble to post the photos. You were absolutely right about the status.
