Is that a year '75 at the end of the signature?  If it is and if the weight is by Peter Layton, then it would have been made in his Scottish period, shortly before he moved to London.

The signature is similar to those on my PL pieces, but not identical.  Mind you, mine are comparatively recent, and signatures do change over time.

Thanks for all the help with the weight particularly Nick for getting the ball rolling.
The date is '75 so quite an early piece and correct Keith he was blowing glass at his Morar pottery in Inverness-shire with C.V. Ramsay (Information here)

Checked quite a few signature in previous threads and I have no doubt it is his piece.
Will contact London Glassblowing to confirm.

Thanks Chris

Would it possible to 'tweak' the title to attract Peter Layton collectors for an opinion on the signature.

Thanks Chris

Here is one to compare Chris, from the 1980s. Yours looks good to me, I think the date runs over the top of the last two or three letters.

Thanks John, that's good enough for me.
No reply from London Glassblowing. I have asked a moderator to tweak the title to help with future searches.

When I see Layton's signature I always read it as Peter Taylor at first...
