'J' Glass pansy - variations?
« on: June 19, 2013, 05:28:16 PM »
Hi everybody,

Sorry if this has been dealt with before but...

I acquired a nice pansy weight a while back (see attached).  I'm pretty sure it's J glass, although the signature cane is on the underside, covered in tiny bubbles, and hard to read (and impossible to photograph - by me anyway).  I think it's a J though.  Also, the weight looks almost identical to  one on 'Scotland's Glass'.

But here's the thing...

My weight has the signature cane on the underside and the underside is unpolished.  I've seen one held by a dealer that, although superficially similar, has a polished base, the (J) signature cane is visible from the front, and the centre cane of the pansy I think is different.

Soooo, was this just a natural variation in the 'run'?  Are these weights meant to be different?  Are they both J Glass?!

Thanks in advance for any info!

Graham
