Crystal Geometric Structure etch marked FM
« on: July 10, 2013, 01:00:02 AM »
Hi, can anyone provide any information about the company  that made this large crystal structure.  I've tried researching the etched marking F M, but unable to extract any details pertaining to this piece.  The stuck on label reads, made in Germany.   I have never come across such a large piece like this before .  Any help appreciated :)

L 37cm, H 18.7cm  W 7.6cm.   Weight approx.  2.2kg.

Hi,  I'm currently trying to find out who actual made this.   Being presumptious, may have posted it in the wrong room ::)

Oh! so it is German?  Thanks for merging the posts Ann.  I was a bit uncertain by the stuck on label  ::)
You could contact Franklin Mint and ask them.  John

Thank you for that, it will be my next line of approach.  I must say, during my research I did find one that looked the same, but had a ceramic/porcelain  animal on the tallest part of the glass.  I thought I had saved it to my favourites, but will have to search again  :(.  Not that this is of any help, however, I spoke to the owner of the this piece and apparently it was purchased in the late 20th century and owned by a retired solicitor and was on display in their offices.   I will have to see if I can gather any further info  ;).

There's not too many Germans here on board, but this ones afraid he can't be of help this time...  :-\

I think, confused more like  ;D.

I do not know if this will be of any assistance but your item looks like a 1920 hood ornament so I pulled up the following link because I can not tell for sure from the photos and my aging eye sight. Give this a shot. Good luck.

If memory serves me well I had a similarly geometrical piece a couple of years back....and it was by the company FM Konstglas of Sweden...I'm 99.99% sure that it had the same acid etched initials as yours does.....The "German" label might well refer to something else and be simply a misleading bit of confetti...
