Some help with information about this Zanetti Sculpture
« on: May 02, 2006, 11:04:05 PM »
Well, I am hoping to get a bit of identity help here… I have been reading comments and will say that the quality of information found here is refreshing..

Last week I was at a sale and found the art glass sculpture shown in the attached photo in a the garage.  It is a bit dirty but sound and without damage. Each bird (there are 7) has a wing span of about 17”… the overall height is about 30” and it is about 36” long.  Base and limbs are brass.
I believe this sculpture is by Licio Zanetti, or it appears he has signed one bird as shown.  The same bird also has 2 labels as shown.

I haven’t ever seen another like this and cannot locate a photo on the net.  I think this piece was purchased in the late 90’s.

Are my assumptions correct ?

Either way, what value should I place on an item like this.  I can’t find another with multiple figures on a single structure, at least not by this artist.

Any information or advice would be welcome.

Richsr

Some help with information about this Zanetti Sculpture

Lovely piece and typical of Zanetti's larger work. I've got a smaller version with 2 birds of similar dimensions but on a glass plinth and when the light catches them they look stunning so with 7 birds it should be wonderful. Amazing to turn it up in the garage and that it remained undamaged in there. Probably made 1980's or early 90's and one for the future as far as value is concerned as it will surely appreciate, wouldn't like to put a value on it, firstly as this forum is primarily for information and not valuations, but also these larger pieces are very much how much an individual loves the piece and not related to ballpark book estimates.

Thanks for the information…  My thoughts as far as value at this point were for my insurance purposes.. to insure at the price I paid would be ridiculous.
I will continue to search for information on the series from which this item was a part.  I do think your time frame fits though.
Thanks
Richard

Another piece of the puzzle.. If this is a Licio Zanetti piece, it dates to the late 1980's since that is when he passed away.
