Jiri Harcuba 1928 -2013
« on: July 28, 2013, 09:36:07 PM »
I have just received an email from Katharine Coleman who has passed on the sad news that he has passed away.

I cannot improve on what she says:
Quote
In case you have not heard, I write with great sadness to tell you of
the death this week of Jiri Harcuba. He had been in hospital for a couple of weeks in a deep coma.

I understand his funeral will be in Prague on 2nd August.

I am sure there will be fitting tributes to this great engraver, kind friend and inspiration to so many of us.

My sincere condolancies to Jiri Harcuba's family, and thank you Jiri for your wonderful work that has brightened many lives.

Nigel

A great artist and a very nice person. Met him once at Pilchuck and again at Corning. A very gracious and unpretentious gentleman. He made it all look so easy. May he rest in peace and my condolences to the family.
