Canes appear to be Caithness.

i would agree - the red/white/blue cane at 2 and 8 oclock appears in a lot of later jewellery/paper knives etc

Not John Deacons IMHO, Roger.   I can't argue with the cane attribution of Caithness.

Not the neatest swirl base I've seen, putting it mildly.  Maybe considered not good enough even to mark it CIIG.

Does seem an odd one doesnt it. For several decades now, John has done much better swirls than this, it was just the six pointed white  star in blue that looked JDs.
I have never seen a setup at Caithness like this, have you?

Re my comment on canes in late (i.e post Ysart period) jewellery.  See image below of modern cufflinks and the similariity of these stones to the canes in the paperweight above

Yes, I can see the similarity in the individual canes but have yet to see a 6+1 setup from caithness.

Is this an out of work hours weight then??  I can find no reference to roundels on spirals at caithness anywhere.

Long wave it shows up as blue and short wave as pale green??  Bit of an odd glass composition isn't it.
            Regards Roger.

Checked it again last night.  Long wave as blue and short wave as very pale green.
Cannot find any caithness weights with that glass composition.  The only weight I have with those colours is a faceted Bohemian but that doesnt seem viable at all.
Does anybody know what the uv readings are on a dupont baccarat?
             regards Roger.
