Murano Bowl Tutti Frutti
« on: September 05, 2013, 01:16:16 PM »
Dear Message Board,

I have a Murano Glass bowl, I believe it to be Tutti Frutti and to date from the 1950s. I'm thinking of selling it. I'm not sure of the best way to go about it, nor how much to ask. It would be very heavy to post. Any suggestions would be most welcome, thank you.

Martin

Nice bowl, you are perfectly right -- usually described as Tutti Frutti.

Similar designs have been made by several makers, though yours looks like the ones usually attributed to AVEM.
And btw, Dino Martens has nothing to do with this design, even though you will find this info everywhere on the web 8)

We don't like to give valuations here on the board, far too subjective.
If you search for completed sales of similar pieces on ebay, you may get an idea of how much to ask for it.

Thank you very much, that's helpful. I'll look up AVEM, and beware of Dino Martens.

Best wishes

Martin

Definitely an AVEM piece.  They were and are still world renowned for this style of Glass and Dino Marteens was definitely one the finest exponents of the technique

The myth that Dino Martens was involved in designing these pieces is inaccurate. ::)

Marc Heiremans, world leading Murano glass expert, has set the matter straight several years ago (thank you Anita!):
