Loetz? Can anyone help?
« on: September 18, 2013, 04:13:18 AM »
Hi, can anyone help identify this vase?  It measures approx 4" inches high, ground pontil and green glass has some inclusions.  I dont know if this maybe an indication of age?
Thanks!

Certainly looks Bohemian circa 1900 to me and an unusual shape. There are some Bohemian glass collectors-researchers who visit the forum, at least every couple of weeks or so but could be much sooner. This is exactly the sort of quality vase that is likely to find an attribution here. Welcome to the board!

Thanks for the welcomes!  I should point out that the photos seem to make the vase look a little damaged or scuffed but it is in very good condition and as with most of my photos of glass, the photos dont do it justice. It's more irridescent at the top than the photos suggest.
Thanks for looking!

Do I just wait to see if anybody knows or do I have to re-post? I'm new to this!

Be patient.  Not all of the people look at the board every few hours.  Some take a week or two before they bother to look again.  However, it is worth the wait as some of them have astounding knowledge in certain areas.  bOBA's remark is probably right on the money but as he says there are others on the Board who have more specialised knowledge and it will be advisable to see if anyone else can move you forward.

Ross

PS.   The longest wait for identification that I have been able to help identify was around five years later.  I know a lot about Australian Art Glass and recognised the piece immediately as I have its first cousin(so to speak).  That seems to be the way the Board works best.
