Topic: ID, Please: Covered Pedestal Dish - ID = A. H. Heisey Glass

Hello,

Any help with ID, pattern, date, would be appreciated.  This is a pedestal dish, or bowl, with fitted cover. It measures 6-1/2"H x 6"W. Base measures 3-1/2"W. The glass and cover have a diamond-esque pattern, kind of like lattice...but very subtle.  The paper label on the bottom of the base is a dark blue oval with a white diamond and a big letter, likely an "H" and the word "PATENT" on the side of the letter.

This appears to be the Heisey, Yeoman pattern, #3500 comport and cover.  Unfortunately, the cover is not the correct lid.  The lid on the original comport has more of a dome shape and has a pointed finial.  The lid appears on my screen to be of a similar color but cannot determine if it is Heisey.  A lid similar to the shape of this lid was used on the Heisey sugar bowl.

This item is shown in Gene Florence’s book, Elegant Glassware of the Depression Era, 11th Edition, page 251.  The color was called Flamingo Pink.

Interesting about the lid. It is the same color and pattern as the comport and fits into the comport perfectly. It would seem to be too large to be the lid of a sugar bowl. Just wondering if maybe Heisey made two different style lids for their comports? Either way, appreciate the info you have provided.

You could very well be correct.  We cited the sugar since it had the same looking finial; however, and it may be just the photo, but the knob on the lid shown seems to be crooked.  Again, that may be the photo angle.  If it is not quite straight, that would also lead us to believe it is not correct.  It is also a coincidence that the label on this piece seems to match the label shown on a plate in Mr. Florence's book.

That's a thought.  There is a catalog picture of a footed comport and cover in #3350 Wabash pattern in Neila Bredehoft’s book, The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Heisey Glass, 1925-1938, page 195.  The shape of the comport is right and the lid finial seems right; however, the lid shown is not as domed as in the subject picture.  Wabash did come in a diamond optic similar to Yeoman.
