Millifiori paperweight bottle
« on: October 19, 2013, 04:22:19 AM »
Hi All,
I sent a question over to "Paperweightsplus" and they suggested that I pose the question here.  I'm trying to ID this Millifiori paperweight bottle,  When I saw the John Deacons bottles that they had listed I thought I might be a Deacons, but they said it is not and suggested that I post if over here and check with you folks.  Not sure if this is the right category, or if I should have put it in the paperweight questions.  Thanks for looking!!

that's a gorgeous bottle!  I think it would be better in the paperweight section and they will need a clear close up picture showing the stopper as well I think.
If you click on the report to moderator link just to the right bottom of my post or your post and let them know, they will move it over for you when they have a minute :)

Hi Bobrhonda

Your bottle is definitely NOT JOhn Deacons - Its much older and in fact iswhat is termed Old English, dating to the early part of the 20th century. I suspect it was made by either Arculus or Walsh Walsh.

Both factories are near Stourbridge in the West Midlands. The dark blue circle of canes are what are known as 7/6 canes and are typical of these factories. The stopper doesn't match the bottle which is a pity.

There will be other members of the board along who may be able to give you a more definite ID. It would be helpful for you to give us the size - diameter and height of the bottle and if possible another picture of the base but shown from a 45 degree angle.

Best regards

Derek

I agree with Derek - it is, without any doubt,  Arculus or Walsh Walsh.  It is not unusual to find the top and bottom do not match exactly, but the designs in your stopper and bottle do look rather far apart - so it could be a marriage from two broken pieces.

The stopper canes  seem to me to be the same ones as the very centre of the bottle base? So could it not be original to the bottle?
