Who said Chance glass wasn't collectable?

:D:shock::D

I've only just found this, David. Unbelievable!
(Sorry, it's a really dull and uninteresting handkie, even if it is...........rare). I suspect a bit of a fluke, though. :D
Cheers, Sue (M)

Three Wise Women would have asked for directions, arrived on time, delivered the baby, cleaned the stables and made a casserole...

And there WOULD have been peace on earth.

An incredible sum, but it only takes two anxious bidders wanting the same item to push the price up 8)

I'm still uncertain about the use of the term 'rare' to describe any Chance slumped glass: the reason being they probably produced 'scarce' patterns in thousands before dropping it from their range should it prove unpopular. Night Sky is such an example.

Then again, if 99% got thrown away or broken over the years, I suppose it then becomes 'rare' by default :D

 Sorry, just having a 'semantic' moment...

With regard to this pattern, it was a genuine Chance production item and so far in about nine months of scouring eBay listings, this is only the third. Came in just black and red as far as I know.

That's the one, irritating that it is only full content on flash. Only 15% of the visitors to my site have flash installed.

I checked that one out some time ago, Frank. No luck on the web site but I'll drop them an e-mail to see if it jogs any memories.

I still have the vain hope that the Swirl designer can be properly recognised. :?

That's quite surprising! According to Macromedia some time ago, I think they reckoned that 98% of the world's computers had Flash installed, but I always had serious doubts about that claim

There are some industries that refuse to allow it to be installed: MoD is one such. Hmm, I wonder why... (rhetorical!)

The museum is a centre for design researchers. Another option that you could follow up is the design history department at the V&A. This is currently a groovy area of study so it is well peopled with good researchers - it should be possible to track down the designer. I also believe their is a designers guild that might help.

Flash is banned in most corporate environments as it is considered a security risk. I have not worked for a single corporation that allows it - only smaller operations. It can be very frustrating as a lot of small software companies only have flash sites and you have to call them for a print-out of their website by snail-mail. Naturally, unless you have seen the product and know it to be worth looking at, you do not bother and stick to the non-flash vendors.

As to my website it shows that many glass interested people use fairly basic systems without adding bells and whistles. Accordingly the majority 89% are windows users with IE6 65%. Interestingly 35% are using Firefox now, it really is gaining ground on Microsoft! Actually it is 35% Flash now, just looked again. But as my visitors are in low numbers the statistics change a lot.

I don't know what this "Flash" thing is, but sometimes I have to wait AGES for a page here to open because of the things that come along with your signature, Frank. It's generally after I've used AdAware and Stinger to clean up. I presume I don't have "Flash"? :?

Go to: http://www.designmuseum.org

If you click on the 'Flash' version and it asks you to install the Flash viewer, then you haven't

Some 'Applets' really slow my system up for some reason and http://www.chanceglass.co.uk is one such example. Not a great fan of them.
