appreciate it might seem pedantic, but think we ought to say whether we're speaking imperial or metric - although I guess these numbers were cms.  :)

Thanks Glen,had a look on the intoe and have seen some without decoration on the inside where as mine has,i think called a head dress?, has that got something to do with lidded and unlidded

The interior design is indeed known as Headdress. It can be found on some bowls and some stemmed sugars. Nothing to do with the lids :-)
