I know most of you are across the pond, but is anyone going to the Paperweight Fest at Wheaton Village next week?

I think Allan might be, or was that last year?

I'm considering dropping in either Thursday or Friday - depends on the availability of my "semi-sister".

(She's actually my sister-in-law's partner, and while I love her dearly, I've never figured out how to describe our relationship - closest is 'sister-almost-in-law' or 'sister-not-in-law'.  Maybe someone can help me out??

Also depends on getting permission from my real estate agent to be out of the area for a day - since the house will be on the market by then!

But I digress - Grace and I have been talking about dropping into the fest mainly to see paperweight making exhibitions and maybe, just maybe, to meet some of my new friends in the paperweight world.

Recommendations??  Would two people who are only marginally into paperweights enjoy the fest enough to justify hours of driving plus the $75 per entry fee?????

Yes, the price is a bit steep, but I suppose it goes to a decent cause - the museum and who knows, maybe the PCA or its local branch will get a piece??  ...and I would think that it would cover the normal cost of visiting the museum, whatever that might be.

I do have to look into the whole situation - maybe for the regular museum entrance fee we could mingle with the paperweighters and see the exhibits, just not attend the lecture and demonstration sessions?

AND if we do get bored, there's always Atlantic City and its casinos just a short hop away!

Hi, Just a quick post to say I am not going to be there either unfortunately.I passed  an invite from Stan Kruger for someone from Caithness to attend the event on to the people that organise trips for us, but nothing was heard from them, probably because we were in the middle of changing over our distributers in the U.S.A.Nevermind maybe next time :( .

Hi
I am a member of the Friends of Wheaton-but have never gone for the PW Fest ( I am over 3 hours away)- but  I can tell you that the Museum is GREAT! I collect both paperweights and cut glass - so I was in my glory!!!
I think during special events-there is no "regular admission".
