Glass Ram
« on: November 12, 2013, 10:52:32 AM »
Todays Find - a unique glass ram. I am new to glass so clueless as to its origins or maker. Any help in identifying this piece would be greatly appreciated.

WOW,  what a really beautiful glass Ram!!

I have no idea of the maker .... YET!!  but I will do my very best to help you find out.
I spend all my life collecting glass animals and birds,  so it will be a pleasure to help find the maker of this one.

In the meantime, a warm welcome to the Glass Message Board, and it may well be that others here will already know and recognise the base mark.

Here's to happy hunting for the maker. :)
Rosie.

May not be the exact same ram, but its really close to it in every way in the showcase next to mine & its got a Ronneby Glassworks Konstglas FM label.

Welcome to GMB.

Could be FM Konstglas, although it looks rather too delicate - can you post a photo of yours, Ohio? I can't work out the mark, so is it possible to post a further photo of the base itself?

There are also quite a few threads on GMB relating to this company, so do a search through those. There is also a Swedish forum where these glass figurines figure highly, but I cannot think of its name ATM. Anyone?

I don't think it is the FM Konstglas Ram you are talking about Ohio and David E.  I have one boxed away at present,  but here is an example on eBay of the one I think you are thinking of:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Handmade-Glass-Art-Amethyst-Purple-Ram-Figurine-FM-Konstglas-Ronneby-Sweden-/181221908623

They come I other colours and this includes clear glass.

However the 'Pig' shaped mark on the base of yours chickpeaoz is the lead I am following at present. Yours is quite different.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I have attached a photo of the whole base. I will try and take a better photo of the mark itself.

The one I've seen in the showcase next to mine is lying down like the OP's, has the FM label (black as I recall)  & is not the one Rosie has  although I've seen the one like hers. The face is  different though on second thought as the one in the showcase next to mine is not pointed as the OP's. I guess it must be someone elses.

I love a good mystery but find it very frustrating too. So nice to get another view on the mark Rosie Posie. I am so used to looking for initials that I could not see past a swirly letter M. I will try and do another rubbing today and see if it changes things. It is the detail of the nose and horns that tends to rule some things out ( well not completely)

I see it as possibly Murano,  but they seldom use pressed marks,  more often a label.
I look forward to seeing a newer rubbing.  Is the mark an indented one or a raised one??
