Panel cut Pink perfume with Macintosh motive
« on: December 17, 2013, 08:12:09 AM »
This quite solid perfume was found at the Omni car boot sale in Edinburgh - so I am assuming it is Scottish. I've not seen anything in this quality before - all the modern Mackie decoration stuff seems to be on cheap factory glass. Can anyone shed some light?

Ivo, is it neodymium glass or not?

I wondered if it might be one of the repro's produced by the (now defunct) Past Times company, they had a range of very nice Mackintosh patterned pieces... others I know of making Mackintosh themed perfumes include Glencairn Crystal and Royal Scot Crystal, but it doesn't look like either of theirs.

This had me stumped, but I suspect you are correct with "Past Times" (or Leonardo Collection) or something along those lines, Anne. Or Swarovsky.

It doesn't look like something I'd give a second look, but I was confused because Ivo had.
I wondered if Ivo could see some quality I couldn't, in a photo...

It looks like a brand new, gifty, sort of reproduction thing.

It is not Neodymium - just pink. And yes, it is of a very high standard cut and polished. Will investigate the names mentioned.

I'd also thought of Past Times -  who, I believe are now no more  -  and did google the name but couldn't find this item.

I managed to find a review for a pink perfume from Past Times - and then google imaged "pink perfume". The result was stunning. Hit upon hit. In the end I figured out there is a region in China called Pujiang where they have dozens of crystal makers, cutters, refineries, traders etc.  That is most likely where this bottle originated.

quote...................."it is of a very high standard cut and polished."................               so the Chinese do make some good things then ;)

It's a nice piece by the way, and should provide many years of good service Ivo ;D
