Reproduction of Walther & Sohne?
« on: January 14, 2014, 10:25:48 PM »
Hi,
I'm wondering if pieces of Walther & Sohne have been reproduced. An auction I'm going to has a pink butterfly Schmetterling vase, I have had a look at the piece, still not sure.  There is also a dresser set for sale (photos attached), I've found them identified as Walther & Sohne and also as unknown maker - it reacts to a backlight, a bright neon green. Any thoughts or information is greatly appreciated.

The dresser set is not Walther; it remains unknown. Smetterling was made both pre- and post-war: post-war by VEB Saschenglass, which was the nationalised "Walther"

Thanks Christine :) The tray for the set is very nice, hope they go for a low price.

Isn't there a lot missing off this, a pot, candlesticks etc? does the ring holder match the set?

Yes, I believe there are pieces missing & the other little pot/jar should have a lid, no candlestick - not sure about the ring holder or if all the pieces were sold together -  I like the tray.

The dresser set sold for $235.00, the butterfly vase sold for $285.00 - both too rich for me.

I can't get £20 for these sets complete regardless of who they are by, that's expensive.

Yup, I agree. I'm in a small town, but just a case of two people wanting an item. Wish I was the seller :)
