Millefiori paperweight - age/maker?
« on: January 27, 2014, 05:57:06 PM »
Hi, paperweights aren't normally my thing but this was in with a collection of both modern and Georgian glass that I bought recently.  It is 7.5 cm (3 inches) high and 9 cm (3.6 inches) in diameter.  It has good age and light (fleabite) chipping to the edge of the base.  The glass contains some small bubbles.  The base is concave and appears to have been polished.  It weighs just under 1.5 kilos.  I can't see any date or letter canes.

I'm hoping English and 19th century but am happy to have those hopes dashed if I am way out.

Thanks in anticipation
Neil

Hi.  I am fairly sure that your paperweight is from Murano, second half of the 20th century.

Thanks for the feedback.  When I post it on eBay I will list it as such.  Much appreciated.
