Nigel Morton Glass
« on: May 15, 2006, 10:24:59 PM »
Hi

I was wondering about a glass maker from Sunderland called Nigel Morton that I remember being active around the 1980s.

My mother had a gallery in Durham called the 'Saddler Gallery' which sold paintings / prints, ceramics and glass. Nigel Morton sold well from the gallery - I bought two of his smaller pieces.

When my whole family moved back up to Scotland in 1990 the connection was lost - I wonder if anyone knows if he is still active, I can't find anything on the net.

He had a medium sized workshop with assistants, and sold outside of Wearside, he trained at Sunderland.

This is a small vase 4.5" high - signed

This is a bottle 6" high and quite heavy - square shape with the sides having a slight swirling texture - signed and dated 1988

Thanks Adam P
David is my Father's name, 555 is the number of man ('The Pixies'), but please call me ADAM P.

Adam, try contact via the alumni at Sunderland. He's listed in red which means they have contact with him apparently: http://www.sunderland.ac.uk/devtrust/mailing/alumni/stories/TraceaFriend.htm (last but one entry).

Mod: website changed so link now defunct. New alumni website here: http://www.wearunited.org/
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd
