« on: February 19, 2014, 03:47:45 PM »
Hi all, everything seems to go a blur with me and weights, i think this maybe Italian though, someone has felted the flat base and underneath is the remnants of paper label just!all thats left is a sort of serrated edge you would find on a postage stamp and maybe a bit of red here and there, any ideas, many thanks.

Hi,

It is a Murano weight, by Fratelli Toso.

After Nick77's id i looked up Fratelli Toso weights and recognised the canes, also i came across flying free's,m's,weight pretty much exactly the same as mine, but m's had a plastic label with F Toso on the round label, the only label i could find remotely like the tiny remnants i have is the Barovier Toso label,is there a rectangular paper F Tosso label as well ?.It could be my label isn't a label maybe, thanks.

Hi
From memory all of the Fratelli Toso weights with labels I have had, and seen have them on the side of the dome rather than the base as they would be more prone to wear there. This could be a collectors label, an importers label, I have seen a label with stamp like perforations like this that just had made in Murano on.
