7" AMETHYST VASE - I.D. HELP PLEASE
« on: February 23, 2014, 11:47:50 AM »
Good day, This cased amethyst/clear 7" footed vase with suspended bubbles is very thick & heavy (approx 2.8kg) and measures 180mm high x 109mm wide x 91mm wide footed base. The rim is flame-polished, the base has a circular ground-out recess, and the walls are up to 17mm thick. From the base wear, it looks as though its no youngster. It has many of the characteristics of Whitefriars, but I can find no references in the catalogues, nor can I find a match against the other usual suspects. Can anyone help? It's a lovely, lovely piece, and so frustrating that it remains anonymous. Many thanks.
