In Greece "Cloris" was the goddess of Spring, in Rome she was called "Flora".
Floral motifs are frequent in the art of glass and now that it is spring it is appropriate to remember them.

In Greece "Cloris" was the goddess of Spring, in Rome she was called "Flora".
Floral motifs are frequent in the art of glass and now that it is spring it is appropriate to remember them.
In the Czech glass, with the name of FLORA, numerous models have been baptized. They are well known to those created by František Koudelka for Prácheň <a href="https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHZL_esES730ES730&q=Pr%C3%A1che%C5%88+Franti%C5%A1ek+Koudelka+Flora&tbm=isch&source=univ&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjK_fKXr4TiAhWPz4UKHUfhBDIQsAR6BAgJEAE&biw=1355&bih=640">here</a> but also Harrach
and many other factories this name was used; Moser has a wide floral range <a  href="https://www.moser.com/art-engravings/flora">here</a>
and we also remember those for the school of Kamenický Šenov made Pavlína Hozáková.
In 1978, Jiří Šuhájek designed these exquisite "flowers" for Crystalex.

*March / 1978 - Nový Bor........ that night Jiří Šuhájek had nightmares. Years later, it would shape them.

I was lucky to have been able to attend an exhibition in Edinburgh last year, of Modern art which used Goya drawings as the backdrop.  :)
You are in good company, bringing them into focus for today.  8)

In general, these designs of the house Karl Palda
they are labeled as: Art-deco -
Because of its radical nature, its syncopated geometry, its contempt for symmetry ...
It seems more appropriate to call them: Cubists -
They surpass the balanced, harmonic and "decorative" canons of Art-deco. They separate from the set.
Closer to the movement of Czech Cubist architecture (1910's).

The Rindskopf company among all its designs has a particularly beautiful range, the call: Pepita .
Crowned by a very special shade of red that burns on the cusp.
That red reminds us of the scarf that the famous dancer Pepita de Oliva wore on her waist. We believe that it was in his memory that this range of Rindskopf was given a name. look here

In the short career of this master we can establish two aesthetic and formal tendencies, say that, opposed:
- The one developed for Crystalex –Noví Bor between the years
1976-80, of an abstract biologism that reminds us of the specimens of the Blaschka brothers
- And his works study-glass 1980-85 in Prague, of rigorous geometry and more focused on the optical properties of the object.
