Show & tell, another Mdina fish vase
« on: February 25, 2014, 07:12:56 PM »
It has been a while since I last showed anything off so here is my latest addition, a small and early Fish vase from Mdina, 1969 I would guess. The combination of amethyst centre and blue wings works a treat.

We are missing the :Mr. Green: emoticon.
A really lovely and fabby thing, John.
Glad it's in a home where it is properly appreciated, but just for this show-off thread on the really early experimental Fish vases, I just have to show off my Precious Baby Fish, along with my 2 other early ones.
Precious Baby Fish is only early one I have that is as good as your new beast.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Sue, I disagree :) your amethyst fish is glorious.  Well they all are, as are John's.

;) It is,  ;D but they're far more common than multicoloured early ones... 8)

No cobalt in this one m, the darker bits are as a result of the silver chloride escaping, saying that the amethyst blown centre also looks quite close to cobalt under all that blue.

Bruce, I think the five are potentially worth more than my car, especially with the mileage I am racking up these days.

Common? ;D

It's a relative term, John. ;)
I'm sure there are at least 15-20 known of the amethyst ones, if not more.  ;D

And yes, flying-free, button rims are very, very scarce on early-early Fishes. And on Crizzle stones. I don't have any. :'(
