Topic: Show & tell, another Mdina fish vase

Looks like all pale blue with silver chloride turning it dark green. The small one is amethyst bubble and pale blue wings the larger a blue bubble with blue wings.

A similar colour combination I think produced these two.

I think it looks as though it has cobalt swirls in it - if you look at the first photograph it's turqouise right around the base and sides right at the edge but then the cobalt can be seen in the turquoise.  Mine is like this.  But mine has no chlorides in.  Will try and find pics in link

this is not the best picture but I do think the main body is made from turquoise with dark blue swirls which is how the body on my fish is made (not sure if cobalt and can't remember what conclusion I came to on mine as can't find my fish vase thread).
On this picture, the dark blue swirls in the fish don't look as purply as the cobalt side stripe.

I added to my last post while you were posting yours m. There are 'strands' of purple in the blue and around the shoulders distinct cobalt tones but I think they also silver chloride related. I have noticed purple tones inside both the the inside out vase and tricorn bottle in that photo too.

A real surprise finding this early shape so big, 23cm tall and 26 wide. Some of the later fish vases are just over 30 by 30, considerably bigger and a magnitude heavier again.

WOW that vase is stunning..........

My hands are itching to get hold of the "small" one, second row back, left-hand side, again. I know it's not small. I know how good it feels.
That piece was the highlight of last November, for me. I liked the bigger one very much too, but that one has something extra special about it.

That is the vase that started this thread (nearly four years ago now), I agree it is particularly fine example with a good combination of amethyst and blue glass, the addition of a little silver chloride spices it all up nicely.

It's the special tiny features, like the spots of the silver reactions suddenly disappearing under other bits of glass, that make it. All the different, three dimensional layers of different things happening, that all change when you turn it around.
I love it.
