Blue studio iridescent vase help please
« on: March 13, 2014, 04:10:47 PM »
This is one from my collection i have been stuck on,  i'm not sure if it's Mtarfa Mdina Isle of Wight or by someone else, it's beautifully made and very tricky to photo. It seems to change colour dependent on light it's hard to put it down and has a lovely smooth silky feel to it.

It's 3 1/2 inches in height

I don't know whether the base finish would fit but you might also check out Phoenician as they did do some pieces with wide banded swirls on.

I can't see the shape properly - what is the rim like?
It looks as if it could have a sort of thickening of the glass around it?

I'm stuck.

The textures in it are very similar to a short-lived range at Mdina, but that was in amethysts and reds and purples, I've not seen it in any other colourway.

It has textured trails embedded in it, a resist technique which makes a surface texture, an irridesent finish and splodges - a lot in common with this.

The rim finish is much more Mtarfa-ish than Mdina - but I don't know what Mdina have been doing in recent years, or that much about Mtarfa's newer work either.

I just do not recognise this piece at all. ???
