dartington clarion suite
« on: March 19, 2014, 12:54:22 AM »
I have a pair of Dartington Wine Glasses FT405 Clarion Suite by Frank Thrower and recently found what I thought was another glass for the set. It's a beautiful piece of clear optic glass, 7 inches and in great condition. However the height doesn't match either the Kir/Spritzer 6.25 inches or the Pilsner lager 8 inches (given in Dartington Glass The First Twenty Years). When the guy serving me took it from the cabinet he called it a vase - and  it could be! It is etched Dartington on the base. Any information gratefully received...
All good wishes, Tom

Take a look at page 84 - Hammer Suite, discontinued after a short production run, no sizes given but a possibility.

Thanks John,

I had noticed the Hammer Suite but thought the flared shape more like the Clarion Suite. It could also be a later addition not included in the catalogue...

It's a lovely faceted piece of glass and more substantial than the smaller wine glasses, and displays very well.
All good wishes, Tom
