Pulled Feather Art Glass Paperweight I-D Help (PLEASE)
« on: May 19, 2006, 08:33:15 PM »
Hello all. I found this paperweight (see pics below) this last weekend at a yard sale, and am having a heckuva time trying to identify it. Any ideas on this would be appreciated. It is not signed. Althought there is some wear on the underside, I think it is fairly contemporary (within last 20 years?). The underside, including the pontil, is not ground. I think it is the most beautiful paperweight I've ever owned. Thanks! Marc

I don't know much about paperweights, but perhaps it could be Orient & Flume?  Someone will come along and correct me if I'm wrong.  :D

Hi Marc,

Orient and Flume was my initial thought, also. But, Correia and Jerry Vandermark (Vandermark/Merritt Studios) also have produced some lovely pulled feather paperweights. I'm sure there are other makers as well, those are the three that come to mind!

Thank you Max, and thank you Liz - for your ideas on possible makers. I've been Googling around looking at examples by all of those mentioned - and do see similarities for sure. But the one thing that is always dissimilar are the undersides - which are pretty consistently ground flat and smooth, but on mine the underside is not ground at all. Ah, well.
Thanks again,
Marc
