Sue, bless you, thank you, it arrived safe and sound a couple of days ago and I've just managed to unpack it after the manic-ness of the last few days!  ;D

I'm happy to make a donation to a good cause - unless you have another preference can I suggest it goes to the Brain Tumour Research fund? www.braintumourresearch.org/wearahatday

I'm feeling very excited! I have just found item no 181381442805 on eBay Australia which appears to be a full set with this tray. And it's a set I do not ever recall seeing before, other than the tray! We need to ask the seller if we can save the images on here and GTS for future reference... and does anyone know who made it??? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181381442805

Does the pattern actually really match - between the tray and the things on it?

The things don't really make me think of a crocodile skin texture - it's all vertical and horizontal lines, rather than slanted ones.  ???
Could it be a marriage of convenience?

(not wishing to pour cold water on the excitement,  :-* just being cautious.)

Anne, I already have the seller's permission to show pictures of this 'Australian ebay' set, and was hoping to post some of them shortly.

I have reference photos of a blue set with the same pot, candlesticks and ringholder as the 'Australian' green uranium set BUT with a different tray, and I'm sure that I have posted photos of this set on the GMB already - it's just that I can't track the precise thread for the moment. The photos are in my 'unknown' files, so it looks as if the blue set still remains unattributed, but I will post a link here as soon as I can find the right place.

I also have a photo of a pink pot in the same pattern.

Like chopin-liszt, I suspect that the tray with the green uranium 'Australian ebay' set is a mismatch rather than a variant. Also in my 'unknown' files I have some photos of a different green uranium set with this 'crocodile skin' tray, plus photos of a blue and a pink set with the the same tray, so I will try to find the GMB links to tie the sets up or, failing that, post some of the photos of the various sets again.

Fred.

Hmmm thanks both, I love it when you rain on my parade!  :-* <giggling>

I think we need a round up of all the examples and see what we can work out from it all, don't we?  ::)

Here are some of the photos of the ‘Australian ebay’ set in green uranium glass for permanent references.
(Permission for the re-use of these images on the GMB granted by vintage-or-antique).

I’ve found the consolidated GMB thread showing three matching trinket sets (all from different sources) with a ‘crocodile texture’ tray like that with the ‘Australian ebay’ set
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,50039.msg282700.html#msg282700
but the candlesticks, pots and ringholder that accompany them are quite different.

I have duplicated some photos of the green and pink sets for permanent reference.

So the photo evidence so far seems to show that the tray with the ‘Australian ebay’ set is most likely a mismatched piece (or perhaps there is a chance that it was a variant tray offered by the same manufacturer).

That pattern is much more in keeping with the pattern on the tray - edges are curved/draped, not straight.

Thanks for your perseverance, agincourt17. :)

The GMB thread which showed a blue set with candlesticks, pots and ringholder in the same pattern of those with the ‘Australian ebay’ set is
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,49095.msg276949.html#msg276949

The tray with this blue set is decorated with an all-over grid of small squares (absolutely in keeping with the all-over grid decoration on the pieces that accompany it).

I am duplicating some of the photos of the blue set here for permanent reference.

Still no ID though?

Fred.
