Yellow Murano? bird- ideas about a maker?
« on: May 13, 2014, 10:01:11 AM »
Hi, this bird was sold to me as Murano (Barbini Poli, though I took no notice of that). I just think he's lovely. He is 10.5cm (about 4.5 inches) high, sitting on a clear base. I think he may be in part uranium glass, cased in clear. His colour is orange fading to pale yellow in halogen light, and yellow/orange to green, in sunlight. (See pictures) His tail is solid, with a central rib. There is no signature or label. I've been to the Murano Zoo and I wonder if anyone could advise me on a possible maker. I'm guessing Livio Seguso as a possible, but your guess is better than mine. Thanks

Hi, I'm afraid I really can't make out the colours, because of the wooden background.
Is there any chance of some pics taken on a plain white background?
A sheet of paper, a pillowcase or sheet... just something plain and white.
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

Sorry, can't help, but it's lovely. A real birdy-looking bird. Hope you find an ID.

Thanks all, have found another on ebay, also unsigned, but without such a pretty profile, so I'm letting it go. Thanks again for your responses. Perhaps Elio Raffaeli? I notice a pink bird in the Murano Zoo seems to have the same kind of tail. What do you think? cheers.
