Amethyst Carnival glass vase ID please - i'm confused :(
« on: August 05, 2014, 05:23:37 AM »
Hi, Can anyone tell me what vase this might be?? I'm a little confused as to if it may be April showers, tree trunk or perhaps rustic? They all look very similar to me.  This one has an Amethyst base, 41cm tall x 14.5cm wide at the top & has a 10.5cm base. I'm also a little confused as to if it may be a funeral vase??? Thanks in advance :)

It's not a funeral vase; these must have a base width of at least 5 in (13 cm), though I'm not sure they have much to do with funerals. I'm pretty confident that it's Fenton's Rustic.

It is a Fenton, mid-size, Rustic Variant.  It is the Variant, by virtue of the presence of the hobs actually in the flames (the large flutes at the top of the vase). This vase has, in the past, been the subject of much controversy as it was believed to be a Millersburg piece. Today it is accepted that it is a Fenton vase, but it is strictly speaking, Fenton's Rustic Variant.

Thankyou so very much! I really appreciate the confirmation. I was really starting to think it was an April showers.  Thanks again :)
